Dr. Laura Marshall, Principal

Hello Gator families!

I am honored to be a Gator and the Principal of Swift Creek Elementary.

What do you get when you combine a Hokie and a Ram?  ME!  I have a bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Development, as well as a master’s degree in Elementary Education, from Virginia Tech.  In December 2010, I received my endorsement in Administration/Supervision from VCU, and — ever a life-long learner – I most recently received my Doctorate in Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in May of 2017.

I have two children; a son (Ryan) and a daughter (Katelyn), both of whom keep my husband and me BUSY evenings and weekends (and we wouldn’t have it any other way).  I also have two sweet dogs: Molly and Brock, who also keep us busy and make our family complete.  However, in my free time, I love reading, running, exploring, learning, and doing new things with my family and friends.

I could not be more proud to serve Swift Creek students and their families as we work together to develop creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills in our kids! I believe that a successful year, full of learning and growth, is rooted in the relationships we establish with our students, their families, and the community of support we foster within our very special school!

I fully believe that EVERY Gator makes a difference!

Sincerely,
Dr. Laura Marshall

Renee Shimko-Daye, Assistant Principal

Hello Gator Families,

I am honored to continue to serve as the Assistant Principal at Swift Creek ES. This school year will be my 28th year in education and there is no place else I’d rather be. Go Gators!

Upon earning degrees and endorsements in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Special Education from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania I began my career with Early Head Start in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1998, I moved to Virginia and taught for 2 years at Prince George High School. In 2000, I joined Chesterfield County Public Schools where I taught both general education and special education at A.M. Davis ES. I earned my degree and endorsement for Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and then served as an Assistant Principal at Bensley ES and Ecoff ES prior to coming to Gatorland.

My husband and I are proud parents of 2 children who have also attended Chesterfield County Public Schools. As a family, we love visits to the beach, spending time with extended family, as well as playing with our dog.

I am and always will be a teacher first! I am excited to continue to partner with our staff, Gator families, and community to enhance our service for all Gators! Please feel free to contact me any time I can be of help, we are in this together!

Kindly,
Renee Shimko-Daye
